The use of frozen seemen in the Norwegian Lundehund

As some of my news might be of interest for people in other countries, I will try to comment a few of my blogs in (a sort of) English. At first I must comment the news about Ranjas puppies. A few of you around the world might already know that the four small ones are the first known litter resulting from insemination with frozen seemen in lundies. Well, I really, honestly do not know for sure that this is a fact, there could be someone who has tried this befor me. If some has, please contact me and tell about it. The most important point about my new litter is though, that this opens new breeding possibilities. I don't think that this is the final solution for breeding the lundies, but it will certainly be a valuable tool if we want to exchange genes across great distances or during longer time periods.

This will be of help, both for the Norwegian Lundehundclub and the other Lundehund/Puffin dog breeding clubs around the world, as well as for the breeders. I plan to freeze down one more sample of seemen from Frodo for storage in at least 10 years. I hopefully will manage to store seemen doses for at least three future litters. Then i will be able to exchange with someone who has stored another interesting male. If anyone out there thinks about doing this, I would be glad to give some advice. It is a bit difficult to samples seemen from the lundies, and i will happily share my experiences with you.
